Liposuction / Lipedema
Liposuction is a proven method for permanent removal of unwanted fat tissue accumulations, both for aesthetic reasons and for treating certain conditions such as lipedema. This minimally invasive technique is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia and enables excellent results with low risk.

Liposuction Procedure & Lipedema Characteristics
Liposuction begins with comprehensive consultation and planning. After a detailed medical history and examination, an individual treatment plan is created. The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia (tumescent local anesthesia), with fat tissue gently suctioned through fine vibrating cannulas without damaging surrounding tissue.
Lipedema Characteristics
Lipedema is a chronic fat distribution disorder that almost exclusively affects women and is characterized by symmetrical fat accumulation on legs and arms. Hands and feet usually remain free. The affected areas show a characteristic column shape of the legs, often accompanied by pain, spontaneous bruising, and orthopedic complaints such as knock-knees.
Facts About the Condition
The exact cause of lipedema is not yet fully clarified, but it is suspected that hormonal influences and genetic factors play a central role. Lipedema often first appears during puberty or worsens during hormonal changes such as pregnancy or menopause.
